robots.txt checker: does your site have one?

robots.txt is the first file most crawlers ask for. You don't strictly need one, but it's where you point them to your sitemap. ShipPatrol checks it's there.

Why it matters

Without it, crawlers assume they can go anywhere, which is usually fine, and they miss the sitemap hint. On single-page apps a missing robots.txt often returns your homepage instead of a 404, which confuses crawlers.

How Patch checks

We fetch /robots.txt and check it returns a text file.
