Alt text checker: find images with no alternative text

Alt text describes an image for people who can't see it, and for search engines. ShipPatrol checks your pages with axe.

Why it matters

Screen readers read out the file name instead, which helps nobody: "IMG underscore 4021 dot JPEG". Decorative images should have an empty alt so they're skipped.

How Patch checks

We run the axe-core "image-alt" rule on your homepage and two other pages.

How to fix it

  1. Add an alt attribute to each of the the images axe found.
  2. Describe what the image shows or does; use alt="" for decorative images.

Your own report goes further: it names the exact pages, services and settings Patch found on your site, and with a full report you get a fix prompt to paste into Lovable, Bolt or Cursor.

Where this applies

WCAG 2.2 AA is the reference standard. The European Accessibility Act makes it a legal requirement for many online shops and services selling to EU consumers.
